London,
September 5 (RHC) — Cuban flags will be flying
on the 4th plinth and in Trafalgar Square on
Monday September 7 between 8-9pm to raise
awareness of the case of the five Cubans
unjustly imprisoned in the US for fighting
terrorism.
UK
Cuba Solidarity Campaign member, Alan Fitter
said renowned sculptor and artist Antony
Gormley's 100 day one and other will use his
allocated one hour on the plinth London landmark
to help publicize the justice campaign on behalf
of the Cuba 5 and UK charity the Music
Fund
Cuba
Solidarity Campaign members will be below in the
square, handing out leaflets and speaking to
bystanders about the Cuba 5. The event will help
break the silence about the case as it will be
broadcast live on the internet through the
website, www.oneandother.co.uk which also has
weekly highlights on the Sky Arts
channel.
The
action in support of the Cuban Five comes just a
few days before the 11th anniversary of their
detention in Florida. They were arrested on 12
September 1998 on spying charges, shortly after
they had passed information to the FBI about
terrorist groups operating in Miami, planning
attacks against the Cuban nation and
people.
On
1 October, from 6pm-7.30pm, family members of
the Five, including wives, Adriana Perez and
Olga Salanueva who have been denied visas to
visit their husbands in prison in the US for
more than 10 years, will be at the annual CSC
vigil outside the US Embassy in London in
support of the Five.
